[Gerry Connolly]

Australian comic, Gerry Connolly was born in the nude in the middle of last century, and began his stage life while attempting to study piano at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music.

From student revue and the occasional satiric spot on current affairs TV, his sprawl reached comedy venues, state theatre companies, Australian and international festivals, musicals, dramas, television roasts, and one-man stage shows displaying his closely-observed characterisations of political figures such as Bjelke Petersen, Hawke, Keating, Thatcher, Tutu and the odd member of Britain’s Royal Family.

Accustomed to doing things by half, Connolly takes his cue from the 65th anniversary of Her Majesty’s Coronation and celebrates his thirty five years on the Pacific throne.

His one-off appearances in character have special appeal: launching a train, “saving” cultural icons, enlivening a corporate dinner, or opening an envelope…

Gerry Connolly divides his time between the stage… and bed.
