The Cape Town Funny Festival has many generous partners and City Sightseeing is one of them. And in addition to transporting us to the country’s oldest wine farm (which forms part of their Wine Tour route), they play a vital role in helping us turn our visiting performers into the Mother City’s biggest and most enthusiastic ambassadors.
We started the day outside the New Kings Hotel – home to many of our performers for the duration of their show run – hopping onto the Red Bus and making our way to Groot Constantia.
Now, if you haven’t been on the Red Bus yet: It is fully equipped with multi-language voice-over channels that you can tune in to. Simply plug in your City Sightseeing red ‘buds and soak in the view while your virtual guide will point out various attractions and share interesting historical facts on your way to your destination.

Groot Constantia is an awesome venue for exploring, and this excursion was no different. Karen Woodcock guided us through the estate’s Manor House filled with priceless 18th and 19th century artifacts, and then led the way to the wine cellar and learned more about the estate’s award-winning wines.
All the walking made for a hungry group, and lunch – and the accompanying wine tasting session – at Simon’s did not disappoint. They even threw in a special sweet surprise for birthday girl, Mel Jones.
- The start of our guided tour.
- Groot Constantia has an impressive wine making process!
- Happy birthday Mel!
- Celebrating a deletable lunch.
A scenic coastal drive on the Red Bus took us back to Sea Point via Camps Bay, leaving the guests in awe of Cape Town’s natural beauty.

The Jive Cape Town Funny Festival is celebrating its 13th anniversary this year, and once again features a stellar line-up of local and international performers. The show will come to an end on Sunday, 6 August.
