While a brunch in the clouds would normally be synonymous with a heart-stopping cable car ride to the top of Table Mountain, mother nature had different plans on 3 July, when even the view from the Lower Cable Station’s viewing deck was a foggy one.

But not even that could dampen the spirits of the Jive Cape Town Funny Festival cast and crew who arrived at the Lower Cable Station in Cape Town’s iconic Red Bus for an entertaining tour, scrumptious brunch, and hilarious photo shoot.

The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway (TMAC) team’s warm hospitality made us feel right at home, and the TMAC chef’s mouth-watering delights showed us exactly why everyone should sample the Table Mountain high tea menu at least once in their lives.

But while Kev Orkian kept us roaring with laughter with tales from his many tours, the TMAC team had another surprise in store: Upon discovering that magician Matt Tarrant lost his beloved Cat Bus during the previous night’s performance (he was subsequently found again), they decided to gift him a Dassie plushy to bring him luck for the rest of his trip.

(Edit… To the delight of audiences, Dassie, together with the later addition of a Baboon plush toy, substituted Cat Bus during many of Matt’s subsequent shows, and added a true Cape Town flair to his performance.)

The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway has been a generous partner to the Funny Festival for a number of years. In addition to treating the cast and crew to a fun day out, audiences also have the opportunity to win Cableway tickets on selected evenings during the month of July – there truly is no better way to see the Mother City in all her splendor than from the top of one of the World’s Natural Wonders.
