It is with regret that we have to cancel the 2021 Jive Cape Town Funny Festival at the Baxter Theatre. The Covid pandemic has destroyed live audience events around the world, and at this sensitive time it would be irresponsible to stage the project.
The Level One regulations regarding indoor events limit the audience size to 250 patrons, which does not make the project viable. However, we are already working towards staging the 2022 Jive Cape Town Funny Festival at the Baxter Theatre in the middle of next Winter.
The ongoing success of the Funny Festival lies in the support and enthusiasm of its extraordinary partners, for which I am grateful. Event partners will be contacted in the next few weeks to plan the way forward.
